It was a chilly day, and when I tell you chilly, I mean a wintry miserable hell. I shrug it off my shoulders and I can feel my mouth trembling through the cold wind I blew in front of me. I finally drop my bag onto the hardwood floor. It's warm... I immediately rush to the fire place to comfort myself more. I see my whole family and some friends I invited over wrapped around the fireplace in thick blankets, hugging each-other for comfort.
"Milly, ain't that nice! You're home!" My older brother declares.
"Aye Jordan! How's it been?" I say, as I haven't seen the ol' guy in what feels like centuries.
"May want to come around here, Milly." My ma says with a charm in her eyes.
"Ma, did you make any cookies? If it's not to much to ask for?"
"I'm sorry dear... no, it's far to cold right now! The baker ain't working. I asked your pa to fix it and it did nothin'. All we can do right now is try to get some warmth."
I looked outside. Piles and piles and blankets of snow piling up, the the little bit left o' the ol' driveway faintly disappeared. I looked at the comforting fire place.
"What will we do when the fire goes out? And we'll be bored half to death by sitting around here all' day." I asked, with worryness filling me up.
"Pa and I got some extra firewood earlier." My brother said, reassuringly.
"Yeah, Milly, plus, you got us! We can help entertain you." My friends said with unison.
"I suppose it's fine then..,"
I jumped into the pile of fluffy blankets and gathered around there, hugging anyone who could give off comfort.
Knock! Knock!
The door was still visible, I could see a figure standing at the door. What if they needed help? I couldn't just leave them there. So, wearily, I walked over and saw a girl.
"H-Hello?"
"Kacy?! What are you doing out here alone in the cold!?" I shout.
"My parents... they kicked me out."
"Why?"
"It's a long story... do you have anywhere I can stay?"
I had a huge dilemma. She was my best friend and was outside all alone on a chilly day. If I let her in, I'd have no blanket space-- as I'd care more about her having safety, she was shrill, she looked as if she hadn't eaten in days, and she was bruised. Then, I risk getting hypothermia.. and maybe even dying.
Find out soon in the next chapter what Milly chooses out of her dilemma.
